Retirement: State employees hired for the first time on or after January 1, 2011 will participate in the MSEP 2011 Retirement Plan. Members of this plan are required to contribute 4% of their pay to the retirement system and are fully vested after completing ten years of service. For additional information visit the Mo. Life Insurance: Full time employees are provided a basic coverage (paid by the State - for one times their annual salary) life insurance policy. Employees have the option to pay for additional life insurance; up to six times greater than their annual salary (up to a maximum coverage of $800,000). The rate for the additional life insurance is determined by amount of coverage and age of employee. Optional dependent coverage is also available through payroll deduction.
Long-term Disability: This benefit begins after 90 days of disability. The benefit is 60% of monthly compensation less Social Security, Workers Compensation, etc.

Dental and Vision Plans: These plans are available to an employee and their dependents through payroll deduction.
State employees hired for the first time on or after July 1, 2012 will have 1% of their salary automatically deducted and deposited into an account in their name with the Missouri Deferred Compensation Plan. Missouri Credit Union
Employees and their immediate family members may join with a minimum deposit of $50 plus a $1 membership fee. Savings plans and loans are available through payroll deduction.

Participating employees purchase some benefits with pre-tax dollars (e.g. state sponsored health, dental and vision insurance; medical benefits, parking reimbursement and dependent care assistance).
Parking in a St. Louis County parking lot (the downtown Clayton area) is available for $10 a month. Parking fees are paid quarterly.

Working Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (one hour lunch period)
Direct Deposit: Payroll direct deposit is mandatory.
Probationary Period: New employees are on probation for 6 months. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, an employee may be eligible for a one-step pay increase (approximately 2%).
Criminal History Check: Prior to date of employment, the employee must pass a criminal history check verifying no criminal convictions other than minor traffic violations.
